The A. S. Gage Ranch in Brewster and Presidio Counties form one of the largest cattle ranching operations in the state, based on acreage. It began in 1883, when Edward L. Gage, a native of Vermont, organized the Presidio Live Stock Company. Today, the Ranch remains a working cattle ranch with much of the property being located south and west of Marathon. Portions of the property encompass areas within the Glass Mountains and Del Norte Mountains, with Maravillas Creek on the southern end of the property, along with various other dramatic topographical features.
This huge sprawling piece of the Chihuahuan Dessert is a very scenic part of West Texas. Along with the diversity of plants, you’ll also find diverse populations of wildlife including mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, black bear, mountain lion, aoudad sheep, javelina, coyotes, bobcats, scaled quail, turkey, and an assortment of other wildlife. Wildlife Systems, Inc. has been taking caring of the wildlife program and commercial hunting operations since 2003.
All hunts are fully outfitted with guides, meals, and lodging being provided. The mule deer, elk, and pronghorn hunts are operated from the main headquarter facilities which feature multiple building, several bedrooms, bathrooms, and comfortable living and dining room, all nestled at the base of the Del Norte Mountains. The A. S. Gage Ranch is one of the premier hunting ranches in West Texas. WSI only conducts a limited number of hunts on this property each year, so availability is limited. Hunters should schedule their flight into Midland and rent a vehicle to make the 2.5 hour treck to the Ranch.
