The land of the Las Islas Ranch was purchased by Vannie E. Collins, Jr. is the 1960’s. The prominent businessman and rancher had a love for the outdoors and was dedicated to the conservation of the wildlife and natural resources that were found on the property. That legacy of land stewardship was passed down through Mr. Collins children and grandchildren, and today, the Jim and Kathy Collins family carries forth that commitment to adhering to progressive conservation practices that will perpetuate the integrity of this special place well into the future.
Beginning in 2017, Wildlife Systems, Inc. was retained by the Collins family to assist with marketing and helping conduct quality white-tailed deer hunts on an approximate 10,000 acre high-fenced portion of Las Islas. Decades of prior deer management have already help shape a great deer herd with an abundance of older mature bucks that benefit from the habitat practices, supplemental feeding, and sound herd management practices.
These trophy deer hunts guided on a 1×1 basis and are set up as a 3.5-day, 4-night program where our clients will stay in a fabulous lodge, enjoy great meals with regional accents, will be provided with attentive service, and will have an opportunity to pursue old bucks that are at least 6.5 years of age and possess impressive antlers. Clients should schedule their flights into McAllen, which is approximately 40 miles southeast of the ranch. All Las Islas trophy deer hunts are scheduled during December when the temperatures are cooling and the bucks are beginning to court does. This unique property offers a great blend of diverse and abundant wildlife, along with the other amenities that help ensure a world-class hunting experience.
