Dove Hunts

If you’re looking for a relaxing hunting experience, full of excitement and fun, it’s hard to beat a good Texas dove hunt, and Wildlife Systems offers excellent opportunities these gamebirds. These little gray ghosts provide excellent recreational opportunities for corporate groups, family excursions, or weekend retreats for a group of buddies, looking to burn some gunpowder and share some fellowship. With a proven track record dating back to 1987, our award winning company would love to host your next hunt.

Hunting Location

Most of our dove hunting takes place in Central Texas, near San Angelo. Wildlife Systems leases several grain fields that are near town, where large numbers of birds roost and loaf. These birds feed in the nearby pastures and farm fields, providing great wingshooting opportunities. Though it can be highly variable, our dove hunters often enjoy flights of birds that include mourning doves, whitewings, and Eurasian collared doves.

How Are Texas Dove Hunts Set Up?

We normally set up our Texas dove hunting as two-day/two-night packages with group sizes normally varying from 8-15 hunters. We generally have a group minimum policy, as opposed to selling individual spots. These packages include lodging, meals, guide, and bird preparation. We generally start with an early afternoon arrival, followed by a shoot that day. Hunters come back to the lodge to enjoy a delicious meal and an evening of relaxation. After breakfast the next morning, our clients will spend the morning hours shooting claybirds and tossing washers. Shortly after lunch, we’ll then head to the fields for the second afternoon shoot. Once again, clients will ejoy an evening of good food and fellowship, and we’ll complete the hunt with a morning shoot and an early lunch. Thus, these programs offer three shoots. Our dove hunting lodges are well appointed and sleep up to 16 hunters. Daily bag limits in most years are 15 birds per hunter. Wildlife Systems expects all clients to strictly adhere to these regulations.

We occasionally offer unassisted day dove hunts, but you will need to inquire on this. These hunts allow our clients to enjoy either an afternoon or a morning shoot, but not both.

Prices may vary, depending upon exact group size, but our 2-day all inclusive packages generally run from $750 - $850 per hunter, and our unassisted day hunts are typically priced at $100 per day.

Seasons and Licenses for Texas Dove Hunting

The season in our zone begins on September 1 and we wrap up all our hunts by September 25. Nonresident’s licenses are unlimited and cost $48 unless you are younger than 17, which cost $7. Hunters must also have state and federal migratory bird stamp validations, plus hunter safety requirements for certain ages.
